International Summer School on

Advanced Ultrasound Imaging

Technical University of Denmark

June 1 to June 5, 2015

Welcome to the Summer School on Advanced Ultrasound Imaging, which will be held at the Technical University of Denmark from Monday June 1 to Friday June 5.

News: May 26, 2015: The program for the summer school has now been posted at: bme.elektro.dtu.dk/jaj/aui/?schedule.html.

The social program has also be posted and can be found at: bme.elektro.dtu.dk/jaj/aui/?social_program.html.

The summer school is organized by professor Jørgen Arendt Jensen at the Center for Fast Ultrasound Imaging at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Technical University of Denmark and by professor Gregg Trahey, Department of Biomedical Engineering at Duke University. There will also be given guest lectures by professor Mickael Tanter, Institut Langevin, Paris Tech, France, professor Erik Villain Thomsen, DTU Nanotech, Technical University of Denmark, professor Peter Burns at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto and the faculty at both Center for Fast Ultrasound Imaging and Biomedical Engineering at Duke University.

The aim is to give a hands-on introduction to advanced ultrasound imaging and its theoretical and practical basis. This includes the concepts of linear acoustic systems, spatial impulse responses, k-space, simulation, signal processing, contrast agents and imaging. The course consists of a set of lectures given by international experts in ultrasound imaging, CMUT probes, contrast agents, and signal processing coupled with exercises and project work. Lectures will be given on traditional imaging, synthetic aperture and plane wave imaging, flow estimation, CMUT probes and contrast agents from various view points. During the course you will have the ability of both working with simulated as well as measured data from the experimental SARUS scanner acquired using synthetic aperture and plane wave imaging. This will include both anatomic (B-mode) and flow data

You can obtain 2.5 ECTS points for the course. The exercises uses Matlab and the Field II program for the simulation of ultrasound imaging systems. It is suggested that you bring your own laptop with the two programs installed.

Registration for the summer school cost 400 euro (3,000 d.kr.), and the registration deadline is May 15, 2015. The link for paying can be found here. Note that your participation is only guaranteed once you have paid.

There is now 39 PhD students registered for the Summer School per May 26, 2015.
