Homepage for course 22506 Medical Magnetic Resonance Imaging

The annual DTU MRI course described here is given in the spring term 2024 (likely every spring). DTU Learn is the platform for course management and file sharing. Additional information for course participants is (soon) found there.

The course is central in the DTU MRI curriculum offered by MR section at DTU Health Tech and provides the prerequisites for the course Advanced MRI, for example. The courses are integrated in a unique international Biomedical Engineering program but is also open to other students. Note: As a unique feature, DTU Health Tech is hosting a state-of-the-art 3T clinical scanner used in the course.

Important: In order to follow the course, an understanding of basic MRI must be acquired in advance as specified in the course catalogue (example material). Some preparatory videos are available in DTU Learn. Also, participants are expected to be familiar with programming, but can work together regarding this aspect also. To test if you are ready for this course, you should read the anonymous prerequisite quiz, prepare, and only try answering when you are fairly certain of the answers.

Earlier year's lectures are available as edited videos in DTU Learn. These and exercises are discussed in bldg. 349 room 019+025 (a room change to bldg. 344/room105 may happen during the course -- you will be notified). Computer exercises involving programming (Matlab or whatever you prefer) are held immediately afterwards (around 3 o'clock) in the lecture rooms.

The book used in the MR-course is "Principles of Magnetic Resonance Imaging" by Dwight Nishimura (available from the DTU bookstore and publisher lulu.com. Any published edition will do. Except for this, the needed course material is made available electronically to course participants via DTU Learn.
